A picturesque "squero" still active

It has been said that today the rivals of the squerarolo are the new technologies and the new materials and that it is no more the shortage of the building wood to favour the crisis of the sector, but the want of "masters". It is certain that many squeri have abandoned the production and have oriented on the small reparations and the shipment and the winter refuge of the boats. Other have transformed in motorboat-shipyards.

At the same time, the few "masters" remained linked to the traditional activity struggles in bureaucratic and administrative difficulties that do not boost them at all ( not to say that " prevent") from take with them some apprentices. In this way, the number of specialized workers decreases more and more! Considering the gondola, the "squeri" that nowadays build it are:
